Thumbs up

Coraline Starting to spread...also some questions?

I now have some small spots of coraline growing on my back glass. It is also growing on the front glass.

1. What is recommended for removing or scraping this off.

2. I have a 40 gallon that i put some LR in. I want to add more for landscaping. The tank has been cycling for about 2.5 weeks now. If I add somemore LR will this cause a cycle again.

3. I found a very small clear worm like thing crawling around with 2 tentacles. and idea what this may be? I cant take a picture cause it is just too small and cannot focus properly. It was about 1/16 of an inch long.

Thanks for all your help.

Mike

sounds great! keep up the regular water changes. this will help to keep the Ca and alk levels up.

if it is glass, i like to use the kent metal scraper. you can use a credit card also.

yes. the more recent the LFS got the LR the more of a cycle you will get. if you can find LR that has been there for several weeks than you would have a minimal cycle.

worms are good. there are a lot of worms in LR, so trying to tell you what it is from your description is nearly impossible.

I scrape the front glass but am I'm letting my coraline take over the back glass. It's hard to access and I figure if it's covered in coraline I won't have to worry about the ugly green stuff.

I agree with Geoff on the Kent scraper...one of the best inventions for reef tanks. They also make one specifically for acrylic...although I can't testify to how good or bad it is.

Cool, Thanks all for your input on my questions. Things really seem to be progressing in my tanks now that I have been using "patients"

another question.

I have hospital/quarantine tank and will use this for fish obsevation before adding them to my reefs. I keep my reefs at about 1.024 and 76.5 degrees. quarantine is at the same temp but a lower SG. 1.020. If i get fish and keep them in the qt for 2 weeks then the reef do you think that is to drastic of a change and that it will just stress the fish even more?

Thanks
Mike

why do you want to keep the salinity different. this just means you need to do a full acclimation on the fish again when you put it in the display. there is not any real advantage to keeping a QT at a different climate than the display.
