what would make my coraline algae on my live rock turn white???

A change in flow, a change in lighting, its just in a bad mood...it is not something to be too concerned with it happens. It will come back in time. Keep and eye on everything in the tank and if nothing else looks ticked off you're fine. Coraline can be sensitive sometimes.

low alk is the first thing that comes to mind. low alk will also make your sand clump together underneath.

What would you recommend if it is a change in lighting that caused it? Would you just leave them on and let the algae adjust?
