crows need UV sterilizers.

did you look at the recommended flow through the sterilizer? they may be significantly different. not because they are different physically in any way what so ever. it could be what they are going to kill. the pond one will be rated to kill algae. it will not kill parasites. if the SW one is rated the same than it will also not kill parasites and only kill algae. dang it, i do not have my bookmarks on this computer. there is a web site that lists the dwell times needed to kill parasites compared to algae. it is like 5 times the length of time. so the flow through the SW one should be 1/5 the flow of the pond one to do any good with parasites.

well, i tell you that to tell you that UV sterilizers are best used when connected just before your protein skimmer. that way the UV light will break down some of the DOC's even further making it easier for the skimmer to remove them. the skimmer will also remove any parasites that get nuked. well, that is if for some strange reason a parasite is floating around in your water column. most parasites have a terestrial based stage. a UV sterilizer will do nothing for these.
