coralife super skimmer pump mod?

i have a super skimmer which came with a rio 1100 pump. i hear rio sucks, and can rust inside. anyone know if a better pump such as a maxi 1200 could be used? could the needle wheel be swapped out of the rio and put in the maxi?

the impellors for every pump is different. there are other needlewheel pump manufacterers. any needle wheel pump rated for the same gph should work.

i think only the css65 and css125 are rios the 220 i believe is something else
