coralife super skimmer


need your guys help. i was kind of palnning on getting a octopus skimmer. but my friend hooked me up with a 2 month old coralife superskimmer. the one thats rated up to 220 g. for free!!! it looks like its in really good condition. but i wanted to know if the coralife super skimmers are good. i have a 75 g tank.

yes they are good esp for free. I had one for 2 yrs and was very happy with it. We moved a few months back and the guy I hired to move my tank messed it up. This time around I ordered the aquac 180. I think you will be very happy with the coralife. The thing you want to watch out for is the diffuser box the sponge and filter padding in that box needs to be cleaned every week. If it gets clogged you can have a flood. Other than that good deal!!

Not bad for the price, especially if free. They work just fine but have a tendency to overflow at times. Make sure you keep the air inlet nozzle free of saltcreep.

i guess it has no pump for it. he couldn't find it. any suggestions on what kind of replacement pump? oh and it also has no bubble production diffuser. do need that if its gonna be in a sump?

Oh boy, not such a great deal after all. The pump is not cheap to replace and if you do have to replace it, then I'd rather spend the money on an Octopus. How do you lose the pump on a 2 month old skimmer?

well its been used for 2 months and after that been in storage for like 8 months. but he said he has it but has to look for it. how are those pumps that come with the super skimmer? i keep not so great things about that pump but then again i hear good things too.

I beefed up my CCS 125 with a Sedra 3500, made for the ASM G2 series and it Rocked!! the only down fall with the CCS's is the water level in the sump MUST stay consistent!!! JMO
