Coralife Lunar Aqualight BROKEN?!
Okay, its been a while. Hi.
I'm having a tank emergency. My regular (white light) went out yesterday (the actinic is still working) so I bought a replacement bulb. Well, I guess the bulb wasn't the problem because the new one doesn't work either. Does anyone know what may be the problem? I REALLY don't want to buy a whole new hood/light contraption, mine is only a year and a half old. (The warranty only goes for a year of course.)
Any suggestions would be great. I need to figure out the problem fast - my tankmates already went yesterday without lights. (I left the actinics on though)

I don't have one.
I just called my lfs, they said they if I brought it in they would test it for me. The guy seems to think it may be the end cap (whatever that is) but they don't have any in stock, and it'll take a week to order. So....if that is the problem, I don't know what I'm going to do b/c my fish/coral can't go a week without light.

Could be the ballast, I have had them blow before. If it is you should be able to send it back and have it repaired.

And if that is the problem and I'm sending it back, what do I do about light until I get it back?
I plugged my white bulb into the actinic plug so they have white light for now. Tomorrow I'm going to take it apart and see if I can figure it out.
If I have to replace the ballast, does anyone know how much that would cost?

Marine Depot says it has built-in ballasts. I've been looking at websites that might sell retro kits, or replacement parts, but I haven't had any luck.

Switching the bulbs is a good idea to at least eliminate a possible bad new bulb.....
If its the light i think it is its actually got 3 switches....

Yeah, I've tried the switch, and there is 3 switches.
Right now I have the white light plugged into the actinic slot, just so my buddies have some light.
I've decided to just buy a whole other light set tomorrow, then when i get around to it, take the old one apart and fix it, if possible. This way I'll have a back up light in case something like this happens again. Of course these emergencies always happen when you're the busiest and can't spare any time to play bob-the-builder and drop everything to go buy parts....
So that said, any suggestions for what kind of light I should get?
