Hi all.....new guy here. It sux that my first post here has to be a why doesnt this stupid thing work post, but......Why doesnt this stupid thing work? Its the coralife deep six. I fill it and it doesnt show a reading at all. Is it really absolutely necassary to soak the needle in salty water for 24 hours first? Could that be the problem? I figured it would give me a reading right outta the box. Im only using it cuz the lfs had no refracto's in stock, and i figured this would atleast get me buy for now. Are these things absolute junk? Tanks a 38, used ro/di water IO salt and of course followed directions to a T. Power heads have been kiken all day. Thanks.......

Weclome to TRT!

Dont know why yours is not working, try dumping out the water and adding again. But you really want to get that Refractor. Order it online if the LFS does not have one. Get one that is temp sensored.

You may have got a bad one.you may want get a Refractor in the future,But I used hydrometers for years.They did the job

Beleive it or not after filling it and letting the needle soak for a while, it now works fine. It says on the box that this will season the needle(whatever that means). I guess i just jumped the gun. Im tryin to get my salt mixed by tonight so i can go buy my rock and sand tomarrow. He just got some nice fijji in and i wanna snag it before someone else does. Thanks for the replies yall..............
