Coral Vital is meant for a coral food, not for ich prevention. I've heard that rumor bandied about but does Weiss actually claim that it prevents ich?
If you want it for coral food and have no other option for feeding, then yes, it does have some nutritional value as a food product. Personally, I wouldn't spend the money on it as I feed my corals with my own concoctions and DT's phytoplankton. Coral Vital also has a tendency to create problems with algae in the tank as they love it for food, too.
I can't imagine that it could work as ich prevention. To prevent ich you need good water parameters, a healthy diet for your fish and the correct environment (tank size and tank mates) to reduce stress. You also need to be careful about introducing a fish with an active ich outbreak into your tank. Using a
quarantine tank is your best defense.
If you have a FO tank, you might want to consider a UV sterilizer, some people swear by them, but personally, I don't think they are necessary. If you provide the fish with the right environment they can usually live ich free.
I hope this helps and Welcome! to the board.
