Coral Pictures and Questions....Help!!

Well the first coral is in my 40 and doesnt seem to be doing all that well. Is there something that you can see that would cause this. All levels are fine, should i be dosing some ZooPlex or something.

Second one im just wondering if he looks like he is healthy. have not noticed to much growth and there are some fuzzy hair like stuffon him.

Third is my Kenya tree in my 72 bow. Does he look healthy?

Fourth is my new finger leather that was all stretched out and looked good before and now he looks like this. Is this a normal thing for it to go through? been like that for about 3 days.

My ph is low at about 7.8 in my 72 bow and the calcium is at about 400ppm. I have bought some additives for the ph like Kent Pro Buffer dKH and Proper ph8.2. Are these good additives to put in along with my water changes every week to 2 weeks.

I also have zooplex for the inverts, is this a good thing to add?

Thanks all for your help.

Well, for sure all the softies are not so happy, with their polyps retracted. When moving them in from another system, they may take some time to acclimate, with retracted polyps the result. I'd get that pH up some, but it isn't dangerously low, if your reading is accurate. How long has the 40 been set up?

I'm not familiar with the Kent product, though it will probably work over time. How about dripping kalkwasser? It should work well, and cheaper too. Just be careful to drip it slowly and watch the pH.

Well PH is getting better around 8.0 now. I have 4.19 watts per gallon of PC lighting and VHO T5 Lighting on a 9 hour shift 7 hours 10K bulbs are on and other 2 one before and after of actinics. I would think that would be enough. Let me know of any suggestions.

The one fingure leather in the 40 suddenly came alive. I will post pics in a bit.

Mike

Sure sounds like there is enough light.
Have you seen any crabs or any other habitant bottering them?

I think your PH is a little low. although I dont think it would severely make a difference. I think they need time to adjust to the new surroundings! How long has the tank been running?

I have a starburst polyp that looks like that second picture sometimes when the water flow is too low for a few days. He always looks better within a few hours when I adjust the flow. Just a thought.

Well things seem to be a little bit better with the PH under control and some zooplex. The 72 has been up and running since August, and the 40 since October. I havent noticed any crabs, hermits, snails or any inverts bothering anything other than themselves lately. Guess I will wait it out for a bit and see what happens. Just keepin up the husbandry.

Thanks
Mike
