Coral ID and info please!!

I was sold this coral under the name Devil's hand, but after I recieved it I quickly realized that this is not a leather at all! As you can see in the picture it is a coral with a soft red skin that feels like felt or velvet, but it has a semi hard inner structure. Please let me know how I should go about keeping this coral, it is starting to get a little white on the tips, so I think that there is something that is lacking in my tank environment. I have 260 watts of PC lighting on my 37 cube, with areas of varying flow, so I should be able to make it happy somehow I would think.

Thats definatly not whats commonly hefered to as "Devils Hand" they are more blunt fingered semi-palmated soft coral with light polyps very spares compared to most octocorals.
Not sure what it is, the color seems wrong for a hydrocoral tho I am not sure.
It almost looks like a montipora variety, tho hard to tell from just a pic.
Montis are a SPS with a definate hard carbonate skeleton and the outer skin is thin with the polyps coming out of it. SPS often get light tips where growth is taking place.
Hopefully one of the stick freaks will see this and render an opinion
Does it seem to be healthy or ?

PS this is a good example of why common names have little value, and illustrates the need for owning at least a basic coral reference, I like Bornemans, its always a good idea to look up before you buy, unless you know pretty much what you are getting

Looks like Sponge

Looks like a red sponge. Keep it in a dim area, in modest flow so it dosent get consumed by alge (sponges often have alge on them and are healthy but too much will make them perish).

Can;t be sure but it looks just like a sponge.

You need to describe the texture and firmness of the specimen, a good closeup pic will help id any poyps or whether or not this is a sponge (macro lens please)

Also any description of skeletal components visible, any attachment base, the presence of speciallized tentacles, etc.

With that info we can at least ID it down to a phylum...

Does this come close to it? I can't tell you what it is but it was given to me by "DennisW" and I'm sure he can ID.

I found out through a ton of research that this is a red tree sponge. So it was handled inproperly by the store (was exposed to air ) So that is the reason why it has been slowly dying. I will be talking to the pet store and getting a refund and compensation. Thanks for your help guys!
