Question

Coral Care

Hi all,

I have decided to stock my tank with lps and sps corals. I have metal halides and no predatory fish or invertebrates and the tank has been set up for about a year so far. I have read that these corals need regular supplements to thrive. What supplements do I need and which brands should I use. Also how much should I use for the corals. If anyone could give me some names of sps or lps corals I would greatly appreciate it.

thanks.

Do you dose calcium or kalkwasser? Have a calcium reactor? That would be a good start. More info please. Later Ryan

Just good old fashioned regular water changes are a good start and a general rule of thumb around here is not to add anything you can't test for

I agree with Chris, but the one thing you DO need to suppliment is
Calcium (and Alkalinity).

THis can be done via dosing Kalkwasser, or with a Kalk reactor or Calcium reactor.

I'd do some research as each has its advantages, disadvantages.

But provided you're doing regular water changes, THAT should be the only suppliments you need.

I went out and bought a calcium supplement from coralife and am going to pick up the alkalinity supplement today. I change the water 2 times a week. When can I start adding the corals? All other levels are normal, thanks.
