copperbanded butterflyfish? tell me about them
I really like these fish, and I'm just curious about them... would a 38g be big enough for one? Do they have special requirements? What are good tankmates, can small fish be with them? I'm just wondering as some day down the road I may be tempted to get one...

They can be a very difficult fish to feed. Many people get them to eat their aiptasia. Once the aiptasia is gone they have a rough time trying to get the fish to eat prepared foods. They like to eat anemones and feather dusters. They can get up to 8 inches. I do not know if I would recommend them in an 38 gallon after my reading on them. As far as tankmates they are a shy fish and do not do well with aggressive fish. Also should not be kept with another butterfly fish.

I watched a friends tank for a week. He has one and he was eating frozen mysis and brine right out of my hand. JUst held the cube and he pecked at it as long as my fingers were there with the cube. I wanted one till I read they eat tube worms for snacks. I have lots of those and want to keep them. So I will admire my friends Copperband instead.

While some people have some success, empirically that are not very hardy, feeding is often an issue but a lot of the problems may stem from capture. The only way I would attempt one would be in a large(>180) well established tank

A beautiful fish...but yeah, a 38g is a bit small for them.
