Copperband Butterfly

I am thinking of starting a new tank maybe next year, I know copperband's are hard to find, I wanted to know if anyone thought it would mess with my squamosa clam, or do they just mainly like to eat small clams..

Anyone chime in who has one with a derasa, squamosa or whatever kind of clam..

Also would like to know if you feed them bloodworms or what works good etc for feeding..

copperbands are a touchy fish. they can be difficult to keep depending on where they were caught from. some are caught using cyanide, these will not make it. those that are properly caught can be finicky eaters also. some like aptasia, some like tube worms, and some like other corals. i have found them to be to risky for me. most are difficult to get feeding on prepared foods.

Yeah Copperbands from what i hear are pretty picky eaters like Geoff said. I havent had any expierience with them picking at clams but my friend put one in his tank to get rid of Aptasia. When it was done with the Aptasia though it had a hard time eating. It eventually died. Nice fish but tough to keep fed. Later Ryan

first off the 29 gallon is too small, take it from me, I had a copper.

All of them are different when it comes to feeding. The second I put him in the water, he started eating, he devoured all the tube worms in the tank and never touched the aiptasia(which was plentyful)
when I saw that he had eradicated the tube worm populus, I started him on a diet of dry pellets and brine shrimp which I fed to him once a day. He did fine for two weeks and w/o warning, was floating upside down one morning...that was that. They need near perfect water conditions and even though they eat, can starve to death.
I would suggest a long nose butterfly cause theyre way hardier.
