Copper Banded Butterfly

Hello, I have a copper banded butterfly on hold for me at the petstore that I work at. Unsure if I am willing to give it a try. It hasnt eaten any of the mysis or brine that I have given it, dont really feel like hatching my own live brine. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions, how to get it to eat or if I should bother or not. I would hate to see it die, such a nice fish.

My tank specs are

45gal with a 20gal sump lots of bio balls
2 magnum 350s
3 T5 attinic 48 inch
1 coralife dual 48inch 65 watt 50/50

Fish I have are, blue powder tang, yellow tang, oso clown, mandrin goby.
lots of coral like torches, leathers, mushrooms, moon coral, turbin stone etc..

Welcome..... (at asking questions) as you appear to be snooping for a little while.

Not to start of as attacking...so don't take it this way.................

one tang let alone two in a 45 gallon tank is not good. Then to add a butterfly is not good as well.

The mandarain...how long have you had him? How much LR? Do you have a fudge? Is he eating prepared food? As these are very difficult to keep in large system let alone small ones.

I would stay away from the copperband for now w/ current stock

To answer your question, I Have a copper banded butterfly. I had trouble getting him to eat. I got San Fransisco Brand Frozen Angel and Butterfly diet and now he eats like a pig. He's actually one of my favorite fish. He lives in my 46.

Well not to get on a band wagon. as far as the butterfly not eating. You work in a LFS and the tanks are not suited for them. I have found that a fish will do better in a tank that is stable and the fish feels safe. I have to say That all the time when people look at fish and think They don'r act the way they should. as far as the size of your tank , I do theink you are pushing the limits when it comes to what you have already.

Copper Banded Butterfly

yeah figured I would be taking a chance. As for the question about the Mandrin Goby, I have had it for 9 months. No it doesnt eat frozen or anything else I put in there. I have 55 pounds of fiji live rock and whenever I clean out the magnums they are full of bugs, so it hunts for itself. I am hoping that the butterfly will do the same. maybe thats too much of competition for food and either the butterfly or the mandrin will starve??
