copper

i am a machinist by trade, but what i make are inductors for heat treating of metals. these inductors are made of 101 copper. i machine it, grind it, handle it all day long. enough to where my hands at times turn green. im always sure to wash my hands b4 getting in my tank but i dont know how well soap is at removing minerals. my tank so far is doing great, i have no problems so far, never lost a fish or coral or anything yet, levels are all perfect for now. not sure how worried i should be about possibly contaminating my tank during cleanings. just thought id get some opinions

wear gloves in the tank.

period.

ESPECIALLY under your circumstances, as even small amounts of copper will accumulate in the system over time, even with water changes...

Foster and Smith sell two kinds of gloves. You can see them online I think. Page 75 in their cat.

you may feel like you're going to deliver a cow wearing them but as Tom said, you are much better off.
