Cooking rock

Ok heres the deal i have a few pieces of extra rock that has been sitting in my sump in complete darkness for about a month. Its been circulating with the display water, is that considered cooking the rock? If im not wrong my rocks look a little whiter and cleaner, or is that just my head playing with me?

no your heads not playing with you because thats what cooking does removes all the algae from the rock

its defintely cooking it to some degree...but not really at the same time......

It would take who knows how many times longer to do it in the partially dark and partially dirty water of a displays sump as it would in a dark tub int he grage with 100% water changes, and violent swishing every week or two. And even then I dont think it could ever be done as thoroughly no matter hwo long you did it as if it was in a system set up with no other purpose than to cook the rock
