converting puffers?


ok so we have 2 figure 8 puffers at the store. they look really cool and seem to do alot better than most SW puffers. i wanna try to convert one to SW. right now its in freshwater with a ph of 7.2 how should i go about doing it or should i not do it at all?

Ive converted lots of molly's and molly's are brackish.

they are brackish. the only freshwater "puffer" are the indian dwarf puffer fish. the rest are brackish or sw.

so do you guys belive i can do it. maybe do it in quarters raise the salinty a qaurter of where i want it daily.

They are brackish and it isn't that hard to do, the salt is actually good for them. If they are in a tank by themselves start by adding epsom salt to gradually raise the salinity then start adding salt water little by little, replacing the existing water. The whole process should take about 8 weeks to fully switch them over. If you have the means you can also do an extremely slow saltwater drip. Just like you aclimate a new fish but gradually rasing the saltwater over a 6-8 week period.
