controling coraline growth

Coraline growth is begining to take off in my tank. Right now it's only growing on the black back of my display (and the rocks of course). I don't mind it being on the back, but I don't want it on the glass, what's the best way to keep it under control??

Thanks

Scrape / scrape and then scrape some more If you use a mag float daily it seems to prevent it taking hold on the glass

I've found that if I keep the glass clean by going over it with a mag float every few days, that's enough to knock off any new spots of coralline.

You have to keep scraping it off. If you catch it early it's easier to get off. Use a hard scraper or a credit card.

Cool.......I do run my mag float over the tank just about every day and I use a toothbrush on those hard to reach places (since works for the little guy in the Oral B commercial I thought it would work for my tank).

I couldn't believe how hardy the growth was when I tried to scrub it off the back of the tank.

I had alot until I upgraded my lights and then it just turned white and now it only grows in the shade or under my rocks.

So my suggestion would be a lighting upgrade.. LOL

scraper works too.

I use a kent pro scraper for glass tanks. Its as good as a razor blade but wont cut your hands. They sell them in different lengths. I have a hand held one and a longer one for the hard to reach spots. I find it to be one of the best investments I've made.

You should scrape the places that you don't want it take over. I have almost decided to conced the battle a little and only keep my front glass clean of coralline.

One thing that I found works very well for glass tanks is actually a glass and tile scraper. They come with thicker, stronger, replaceable blades that do the job well.

I started out using a Kent scraper on the long rod. First the rod broke after a while, and then the flimsy little blade would bend over at the corners, I would put a new one in and bend it in a matter of 2 weeks or so. That is just my experience and your results may vary.
