Congratulations Drew and Bob!! So well-deserved!!
The fish in Dipstick's avatar is the fish that used to swim in the classroom tank. Drew used to ask to stay in from recess so he could watch the tank...and that was before much was added! And, I wish I still had the email I had saved for so long, where Bob wrote me at school asking how much this reef thing would cost because Drew would have to pay for it by himself, and send him a list of what Drew would have to get...I was getting worried at that point that I'd be accused of not being completely honest and that perhaps bringing the tank to school wasn't in the best interest of my continued employment as a teacher in the district....
And following this was our *big 5th grade research paper* each student had to write...of course I figured Drew would choose something reef-related...but he didn't...he chose something very personal to himself, and I learned SO MUCH from him by reading his paper....AND...then, since Drew was a member of TRT by then, and knew TDWYATT by then, and had huge respect for Tom's vast medical/scientific/chemical knowledge, he sent his paper off to Tom for review. I believe Tom's response made it all the way to the superintendent's office, and I do know that Drew (and I) were incredibly impressed that Tom took the time to give Drew such wonderful and encouraging feedback.....It's events like this (talk about a domino effect) where what we do with and for and around kids is SO REWARDING in so many unexpected ways!!
(OK, Drew, tell me to "shut up", you know how I get when I get started...

)
But gee, thanks to everyone here for making a lifetime impression of the grandest kind on Drew and consequently his dad and their friendship and father/son bond!!
I'm so proud of you, Drew!
