Question

condylactis stinging

I just bought a new established reef tank and
have a question about proximity of the condylactis and an unidentified leather coral. The condy seems to always have a tentacle on the leather. What is the likelyhood that it is stinging the leather and what should I look for to tell if the leather is annoyed? Thank you!

Condys have a real nice little sting to them, I would bet that's what he's doing. Definatly consider moving the leather out of his reach.

I answered this post on another board, but I've had a condy actually settle in a leather for a few weeks, and while I watched carefully for signs of distress in both animals, neither was the worse for wear. The leather opened up nicely, despite its house guest, and the condy merely seemed to like the location, and didn't bother stinging the leather.

The condy has since relocated nearby.

I am not at all suggesting that this is typical, but it is my experience.
