Compatibility

Are certain tangs compatible w/others--similar to damsels with the different body styles? Say a yellow tang and a blue/hippo tang? I know they should be added at the same time so no-one has home-court advantage. I see from some of the archive photos that some of you have "mixed" them together and wondered if some species were more compatible than others.

I don't remember if I told you...but I traded "Trudy" Tang to my lfs...they put her in their show tank!! She looks really good in there too (plus I get to visit--she still comes up to the glass to say HI), and I know she's much happier in the big tank...although I miss seeing her zooming around my tank. He told me she was the biggest one of her species he'd ever seen...although I scrolled through pictures in archives and she didn't seem to be that much larger than some posted.

Also, can someone direct me to a "good/clear" picture of what a red-lipped blenny is supposed to look like--I've searched some of the web, but haven't been able to really distinguish the features very well.

Thanks again for your advice on everything.

I've had a naso tang in with a yellow tang and they got along great! Here is a pic of a red-lipped blenny:

Just a caution, but I've seen a couple of red-lipped blennies that were pretty aggressive. We had one at the shop that had to be banished to the rock tank because he kept picking on the other fish. Also had a customer return one that wouldn't behave himself.

You might want to look at the Bi-Color blenny instead. Very similar but they've always been peaceful in my experience with them.
