Combiemasters 180g Reef tank Build thread many pics

Ok Feb28 2007 Marks the start off for my 180g and 78g sump. The stand dimensions are 88 inches in length and the tank will sit 41 inches from he floor. The canopy you seen in the pictures has 4 doors on each side to access the top of the tank. in total the tank will stand at 79 inches 6'5
the total clearance for the inside of the stand is 40 inches and has 3 openings the doors are off right now. The sump you see in the pictures is completlt customs made has 2 drip trays were i can put a fuilter to colect any left over food. after that is falls into the 1st chamber where the skimmer would be. The second are is the refugium are and the 3rd area is for the return pump. i also went and got a MH light its a hamilton tech with a reefsun and its 400w. well thats enought talk. I will now save up for my tank. just another $300 and ill have enought tank will be 72x24x24 viewed on 3 sides. Well here are the Pictures tell me what you think.

This is were the Drain will go. The extra space on the left is were the tubing will go.

This is were the tank will sit in...

you can see that all three slide for easy access

This was the hardest part bringing it in the door way. If it was 1/2 longer it would not of made it in my dads house.

as you can see it did not fit in his Astro Van had to hang on the out side for 35 miles

Well would love to hear your comments or advise on this. Right now still debating if i should go for a 24 inch or go for the 30 for the height. It will be a pain to clean that i know hehe

And this is what it will look like after i get my tank if its the 24 tall. If i get the 30 inch tall then i will just add a couple inches wood to the two poles you see sticking out of the van so it would look even.

that's alot of work so far, good job. I love the big sump (makes me more jealous than big tanks do sometimes).

yeah right.

Everything looks GREAT

I agree with tims as far as keeping it at 24". 30" deep requires more light (and subsequently more heat) and is SO fricken hard to do any work in. Im helping a local guy set up a 30" deep tank right now and I really, really, really hate it. I would hate it even more if i had to keep it.
