colt

Got a colt for christmas. I was wondering...does it a while to finally come out of their "shell" as it were? It is kinda purple and "thick" if that makes any sense. The tips (tentacles ??) of the coral haven't come out yet and it's been 2 days. I hope to get a pic for you today sometime.

Reason why I am asking is I had ordered a bunch of corals from this store on-line and the fox he sent me was completely dead as parts of coral were falling off and when I gently gave it some current it was blowing dead stuff all over, the organ-pipe coral has yet to come out and the frogspawn is doing the same thing as the fox. So, I am wondering if I should send it back too. It stands about 6" high and has 3 branches. It is not drooping over so I know it's not dead. I just wondered how long it takes for it to open up.

Sorry to hear about the other corals. Colt corals can be finicky. Sometimes when introduced to a new tank, they may spend a week withdrawn. In some cases, they may even shed a layer of skin. But, if it isn't drooping, then chances are, it is just getting use to your tank. Is it in direct current? If so, you may want to move it to a calmer area of the tank. Hope this helps. Can't wait to see the pics!

Ok, ok...so I paniced. (when do I NOT panic right?) Actually I went home last night and the colt looked great. However the elegant coral they sent had died. So...I sent that back too.

Boy, this reefing thing can get complicated I am just not a patient man.

He said he will. It was at www.exoticfish.com I got their 9/$99 plus a couple of others. Nice man...but I have to pay for shipping when he send them back out. So, I will place another order in January as I really want a yellow leather toadstool and that way shipping won't hurt as bad.
