Coco Worms....

I am headed to San Francisco for a massive fish run again this Weds. (its about a 900 mile drive one way! so we are spending big stupid dollars on this foray) I kinda thought I would like to pick up a few Coco Worms if they have any. I havent found a whole lot in the way of info on them. Anyone have some words of wisdom on these that they would like to share? I could sure use it!

I imagine some green water now and then would be great.

hey,

I just hope you didn't get any fish from 6th ave aquarium up here in SF.. that's the worst place to get any live stock.

Havent gotten down there yet and I am not sure of the name of the place. Its gotta a flower shop there in the front of it. The place looked less than outstanding but the prices were increadible (compared to here) and eveything I got was just fine and still "kickin it live" even after a 900 mile drive in 20 hours.

Any place youd recommend? I was just hitting a few places my buddy who doesnt keep fish knew of. I am into clams and corals, but I might be tempted to get a fish or two.

I've kept this coco worm for about 4 months now. So far its been the most consistent resident in my tank. Always out for show time and is growing bigger every 2 weeks or so.

I just dose the tank with some kalk to keep this guy growing but in general never had a problem with him. I paid $9.99 for him but the bigger ones at my LFS are $39.99 or $30.99.

If you are driving that far to SF and if they dont have what your looking for, my LFS is in Rocklin which is off of I80 outside of Sacramento. They have a good array of Clams and Corals.

Can you give me "idiot proof" directions from I-5, yes, no, maybe? I might try to hit it in route. It never hurts to look and droole, well maybe it does a little bit, but I am sure I would live.

I guess they would do okay in my tank, at least the feather dusters do. My Ca levels are on the high side always with all of the SPS corals and clams I have, so I guess thats a go there. I saw a Coco worm here not too long ago for the first time and they look kinda cool but they wanted big stupid dollars for them. The store I purchased a lot of stuff out of last time remembers me from last year and is putting in a clam order so that I will have plenty to choose from. I was thinking if they had Coco Worms I might get a couple if they were as great a buy as the clams and fisgh were last time I was there. Just a thought.... Thanks for the info that has been contributed!

I think the best way to get there would be to hit up www.mapquest.com

Here is the address for Aqualife:

4235 Pacific St Rocklin, CA 95677

From I-5 its about 30 mins or so freeway.

Hey,

the place you're talking about is 6th ave . They suck. See the conditions they keep their live stock in. It's horrible. I feel bad for all the corals and fish. I know one of the guys that works there and he tells me that a good 80% of the fish die and 60% of the coral die.

A good place to go would be tropical paradise. That's over in the east bay. I get most of my stuff there. It's a bit pricey but they stuff that no one else has around here. If you want to go head south of san francisco, you can go to a place in san meteo (past the airport) called ultimate aquarium. I know the owners of that place. They're awesome and the prices are good. I made them a calcium reactor . Another place that's good is called natural life. That's in sunnyvale which is kind of close to stanford.

good luck!

Actually, I will be a short drive away from Stanford and San Meteo, so thats looks like it will work out.

I agree with you that the place on 6th is kinda rough looking and I doubt much of anything last very long at all there. Thats one reason I kinda timed my "trip" so that I hit them the day they receive the new shipment. Last time I just piced up some dry goods there and 1 x 5" Miniatus Grouper and 3 x 3-3 1/2" Maxima Clams. Didnt see much else that looked too healthy.

Thanks for the recommended stores! I will check them out for sure! I was able to hit about 5 places last time I was there, just not sure of the names. I remember one did have some nice corals though, they just didnt have anything I was particularly intrested in at the time.
