cls & return plumbing???
i have everything to start my 180 gal exept the plumbing and i realy need your advice and/or input. for the return i got a mag-24. it has 1" inlet and outlet, should i keep the 1" inlet and reduce the outlet to 3/4" or just leave it 1" ? for the cls i got the sequence dart. it has a 2" inlet and the outlet is 1 1/2", i was thinking of having the outlet reduced and split to four 3/4" lines going into the tank, but i have NO CLUE as to the propper size for the suction side. also, can i split my return line to four lines? that way i will have a total of 8 lines pushing water into the tank (4 cls & 4 return) for better flow. thanks for any help you can give me. i'm going to pick up all the plumbing this weekend.

When you say Mag 24 for the return...you mean sump return? If so I would get a smaller pump now to equal the skimmer flow rate. So if you skimmer pump prcoesses ~ 600 GPH, get a pump that will flow ~ 600 gph w/ the given head!
I too run a Dart on my 110 gallon. depending on what your doing and keeping you may want the bigger pump...Barracuda.
Answer these and I'll give you some more input!

Well I doubt that I will be a whole lot of help here, but I think that the 4 outlets from the return along with 4 outlets on the CLS will be enough flow.
Also I do not see any reason to reduce the inlet size on your return pump. What are you trying to achieve by reducing it?
That is just my take

YOu might want to rethink your return pump (sump) decision. With that much volume going through your sump you will probably have issues with microbubbles.

OK here you go!
Red stuff. CLS outputs. The dots are roughly where the bulkheads are drilled. The red line is a spray bar!
The two black dots are the return outputs from the sump!
Two yellow dots are feeds for the CLS pump.

Here is the finished back and plumbing layout!
Basically.....here is the flow of water.....
2 1.5" bulkheads and plumbing...into 2" line to the pump!
2" out of the pump to a 4 way CROSS.
I then ran 1" flex for the spray bar to two 3/4" bulkheads.
Next I ran 3/4" flex line to each of the reaming two outside returns which terminate into 2 1/2" bulkheads!!
I ran a 1" flex line from the sump to a T and then 1/2" to each 1/2 bulkhead there!

sorry..... looks real good. i can do that. my skimmer is an MRC-3 with a gen-x-7o. its what andy at mrc recomended. it should keep up with the return as long as i even it out by throttling down the return with a globe valve. as for the sizes of the pipes, i'm realy not trying to acomplish anything in particular with reduction or anything, its just that i don't know. just looking for the beat possible system with the equip that i have. thank very much. much peace!!!
