My smaller false percula keeps chasing my larger one until he stays at the bottom. I had another that died two weeks ago (powerhead) who was chummy with the small one. Now the replacement clown is getting beaten up. Why is he so aggressive to this particular fish? He has never touched the clown goby. He also chases my cleaning magnet when I clean the glass. Now the larger clown is turning pale and is forced to stay near the bottom. Should I remove the little guy or wait and see( its been nearly two weeks)?

you have two females. when the other larger one died the smaller one became female to take its place. the larger the clown the more likely it is a female. females are dominant in clowns. you should just return the larger one and get a smaller clown than the your original one. your only hope of getting one to be chummy is to get the smallest clown possible in the hopes it is a male.

well, I called my girlfriend and decided to trade clowns with her. She has a blue damsel and a royal gramma. I kept the larger one and took hers which is a bit smaller. I hope it works out between my battered up fish and the new arrival. I just don't get why the larger clown wasn't defending itself???

BTW, getting that little devil out was a real PITA! It took me about 20 mins. I'm suprised I got it out at all. Then, I had to go get hers. Let's just say my throat is soar from choice words at high decible levels.
