Clown with pop eye

After ridding my tank of ick without losing any livestock I now have a clown with pop eye. How do I get rid of it? So now he just sits in my goniopora all day with his bulging eye. What Next?

I heard this a few yrs ago and tried it. I read that popeye is just caused by water conditions, so I did a 25% water change and waited a couple of days and it went away.

We have done several large water changes and treated with melafix with no improvement. All water params are perfect, with the excepetion of 5 nitrates. I beleive it is some sort of injury or secondary infection from the ick.

I also have an issue with my false perc, and QTs haven't helped. He seems to be fine otherwise. I think I'll try some garlic soaked food next.

My sixline is recovering from popeye...I was nearly positive it was caused by trauma from a net so I did not QT him. He seemed healthy and ate well the whole time so I figured the stress of catching him would be worse. I kept him fat and well fed and over the course of several seeks it is looking much better.

Since you have yours in QT are you treating with something?...I've heard of using Melafix or an antibiotic.

A picture would help.

Most cases of "popeye" are a bacterial issue - often associated with an injury to the eye (netting etc). If the fish's immune system if functioning properly most of these issues fix themselves - although keeping water quality good and feeding healthy food will help. If you don't see any progress after a week or so then you should QT the fish and treat with an antibiotic ... maracyn 2 is readily available and should help.
