Clown hosting
Well I have a new Maroon Clown (premnas) which I hoped to have living in a bubble tip anemone some day which is the preferred host.
After a ton of research it seems like there is only a 5% chance of survival for the anemone and that these are guaranteed to die.
Is just live rock okay or will it pick a spot next to a soft coral or something else. Right now the little spot next to the heater next to a rock is where he lives.

I added a green open brain coral to my tank and now my Saddleback Clown is hosting in it. Not as interesting as one hiding in an anemone. The clown is my most active fish, but every once in a while it will just lay very still in the brain.

my clown took about a year to move into my sebae anemone, which has now grow to be immediately next to my frogspawn, and the clown spends equal amounts of time in each during the day, but sleeps in the anemone.

My maroon hosts in a frogspawn also.
In the other tank, my baby black ocellaris are hosting with a coralling-encrusted PVC elbow.
I had a perc host with a Maxi-jet once.
They're creative, and will find something if they feel the need.
Jeremy1973's clowns host in a big toadstool... with a baby blue tang. It's so cute to see all 3 of them snuggled in.

Wow, we need a pic of that
Euphylids are good hosts, Frogspawn, anchors, hammers, torches, bubbles.
Clowns will also take to sarcos and other leather corals.
E. quads have better survival rates than most others, esp if you can get one thats a cloned offspring from one thats been in tank for a while,
But clowns don't need anemones to thrive

I am not going to tell you to go out and buy a bubble tip, but I have had my bubble tip for over a year and a half in a 90g with only 2 40w NO bulbs running 5 hours a day. Everything in my tank looks happy and my maroon clown just loves it. He is in it all the time and feeds it every day. I have also had open brains that my clowns have hosted with. Good luck on whatever you do. I would say do what you feel is in your best interest. Make sure to do your homework before saying everybody says this or that will not live. Most people say there is no way my bubble tip has lived as long as it has. It is very healthy looking.

Doug, I will get a pic of the 3 of them all nestled in. It is adorable. Every now and then, I will actually catch all 4 of my fish nestled in the toadstool together.
