Clown fish
I bought a clown fish about a month ago and I've been thinking about buying another one, but I don't know how to tell if the one I already have is male or female. How can you tell the difference? I'll attach a picture of it.
Thanks for your help guys,
Nick

I think if you just buy a clownfish bigger than the one youve already got it will turn into the dominant female of the tank and the little guy you already have will be the male.
Hope this helps!

the one you have at the moment is sexless, if you buy another one they will figure it out themselves who will be male or female. Then when that happens the larger of the pair is always female and the smaller is always male, hope this helps

It can only change once.Does it go on it side sometimes at coral like a dog on a tree? Then it's male! The first part is true!

So I picked up another ocellaris this one is significantly larger then the first one I had although I am told it is still juvenile. I hope that doesn't hurt anything. I guess I'll find out if my first clown fish likes older women. ANyway I was just wondering what if anything they would host in that I could keep in my 10 gal? My LFS says any type of anemone is out because even bubble tips would get too big for my tank. So I picked up some frogs spawn because they had a small frag of it and I thought it looked cool. The guy also said they MAY host in that, but they probably wouldn't. He went on to say that he hasn't had much luck with ocellaris hosting in anything really even anemones. So I was wondering if you guys knew something that ocellaris clown fish usually host in that I could keep?
Thanks,
Nick

My 2 Ocellaris host in my torch and have been constantly for about 4 months now... I have a RBTA but they don't even look at it... I am glad because it is beautiful and I wouldn't want them to pester it. They are so cute in the torch, they are just like little puppies in dirt... rubbing their "noses" in it and actually throwing themselves into it and wiggling all around in great happiness! The female "nurses" on the tentacles also. The torch doesn't seem to mind at all... it fully expands everyday and has great color. HTH...

Here is a picture of them in my 29 before they got a new home in my new 80 gallon. Now, in the 80 they are just in that torch all day long... really just litterally throwing themselves into it.
Plus, I really like the torch coral, it has great color and tentacles that some might mistake for an anemone.
HTH again,
Jenni

my female hosts in a colt coral (a softie that given the right light would be fine in your 10 gallon) but she doesnt share with the male. He hangs out near a large blue mushroom.
