Question

Cloudy Water=Cloudy days....?

hey everyone. I just added salt water for the first time in my new aquarium, and I just realized that it is a bit cloudy. Is this normal? And how long will it be cloudy for? by the way it works excellent. No leaks, and following your advice, I drilled a 1/8" siphon break in the return. I also noticed that there is some kind of froth on the surface in my sump/refugium, I have the protein skimmer on the main tank, is this normal?

Congradas on getting the water in there!
the cloud should clean up in a day or so. the faoming sounds like the salt mix was not mixed all the way...Keep an eye on your skimmer...and keep the temp at what you want to run at.

New salt mix will clear after a few minutes. If your tank has sand or gravel in it, dust from that will cloud the water, which will clear in a day or two.

I think it is the skimmer that is creating the bubbles, how do I stop this?

bubbles from the skimmer is a good thing, no bubbles means somethng aint running right. are you getting any skimmate? your skimmer in in the sump right. then you really should not get the micro bubbles back in to the tank...

I don't know your skimmer, but you can lower the water throughput, cut back the air, or put a sponge at the outlet to trap the bubbles. There should definitely not be so many bubbles coming out of that thing that it makes your water look cloudy.
