Closed loop question

Hello TRT!
I have been super busy redisigning my tank. Right now im making
the overflows out of acrylic and have a question.

My original plan was to run about 500 gph through the stand pipes and plumb 1.5 intakes looped over the back into the overflow boxes to feed the AM3000. That means that there will be about 2,000 gph flowing over each corner box. The boxes are 7x7x29.5 tall.
Im starting to think that the AM3000 will run the overflows dry in that aplication>? What do you think?

My alternative is to run two 1.5" intake screens in the display; though im afraid of sucking up critters and sand causing the pump seals to fail.

Thanks for your ideas and help.

Oh yeah, I talked to a LFS owner about this set up and he looked at me like I was on crack to run an am3000 on a 150. Surfs up!

Hey Calvin, I hope this is an acrylic tank
If it were I , believe I would use 3 or4 1.5" B/H with strainers on an intake manifold as ir were, A to reduce the intake velociy and critter hickey factor and B make sure water is not coming from same spot all the time.
Then for the returns I would want a couple 1" sea swirl returns at the very least. These are spendy but still cheaper than the motorized ball valve that can change directions and flow pattern.
If i am wrong I apologise in advance

We have an Amp 3000 on our 135 as a closed loop with 3 1" intakes and 5 3/4" outputs. The intakes are strong but I am not too worried about critter dinner. I would strongly recomend against using the overflows for the ampmaster, it may work bu tI think that it would run dry.
