Question

Closed Loop????????

On a closed loop or any kind of return does eveyone tent use the normal PVC elbow. or do some people use a spray bar? I ould think that a spray ba sub mirged in the water, as not to cause bubbles create a more even flow and get rid of the dead spots. please advise. trying to make a choice

Trying to understand your question. On a CL, there are many possibilities for a return. Some just have BH, some use lok line to direct the flow and even some use a LR rack/spray bar combo. JUst remember to keep the holes on the bigger size - 1/4" cause they will clog up and use a bigger pump.

good luck

If you're runnng a barebottom tank, a spraybar set along the bottom blowing detritus up into the water column is almost mandatory (at least my cyano problems didn't go away until I installed one). I also have one on my main display that I didn't design as carefully so isn't as effective, but still useful for circulation.

Here's a simple (and ugly) setup with a Mag 7 mounted on top of a t-bar with the sprays arranged across the bottom. It's in a prop tank so aesthetics are not necessary but access to the pump is. Notice how the cyano is on the discharge pipe. That junk's all gone now.
