actually that is not the stuff i was suggesting. the eggcrate is a ridgid plastic diffuser. it would be a good idea to cover the entire tank with this stuff. it comes in white and has 3/4" squares all over it. it works great for keeping in those jumping fish.

i can not seem to find a pic of it anywhere.

Geoff...not the best picture in the world, but you're talking the stuff on the top of the tank on the left side...an old picture of my tank.

I've had to start putting weights (pieces of base rock) on the outside edges and corners of my eggcrate since the eel decided to go carpet surfing a few months ago.

I'd have a very hard time, because of the acrylic bars holding the light fixture in place, but I have to try something.

eggcrate is very easily cut. i use the stuff like crazy for overflow weirs and intake strainers for my CLS's. it is very ridgid so you can cut out little sections for support posts without much problem. it can hold itself up with very little actually touching anything.

i would recommend this stuff for anybody who has jumpy fish. i plan on covering my entire tank with it when i get my pendant finished.
