Question

Clear Mushrooms?

Anybody know about this? One of our first corals was a rock w/ 8 or so long tenticle shrooms. Under ac. they are brown w/ neon green tips and can get really large. 3+". After they had been in the 135 for awhile they started to divide. I took one and put it in the other 135.

It lost all its color, but the tips were fairly bright pink. Now, it is completely clear. It appears very healthy, just no color whatsoever.

Any ideas?

TIA Chris

Chris I have seen some large shrooms become translucent, to the point that you could sorta see thru them, but i don't kno what the long term effect on it was

Translucent color may be evidence of a stressed animal. It could mean that the specimen has expelled nearly all of its zooxanthellae and the remaining color(s) you see are orphaned pigments!
You said you took the mushroom out of 135 and put it into another 135. Did you place the mushroom at the same level as was in the original 135? Do you have the same lights in both 135? Hopefully others can add to this as well! Johnny
