Question

cleaning magnets

can you recommend a good one to clean the glass on a 55 that won't break the bank.

The only magnet I would recommend is a Tunze.
Here is a link where you can get them: http://www.aquatekfish.com/magnets.php3

I also use the Cornermag. Although it falls off a little more often than some, it has the great feature of being able to turn the corner and clean all sides of your tank without having to put your hands in the water. Thus, three sides of my tank remain clear most of the time as opposed to just the front.

I've been using the Kent Pro Scraper. It now comes with up to a 36" fiberglass rod handle. I think it's the best scraper I've ever used. The only addition you need to make is to purchase the stainless steel blade if you have a glass tank, with that blade, you can easily take anything off the glass.

As far as magnets, I had a bad experience with a cheap set where I picked up a piece of sand, and didnt notice it until I had scratched my glass tank. It wasnt the magnets fault, but I stopped using it.
