Hi, I am going to start turkey basting my rocks regularly. I changed my Phosban media 3 weeks in a row now and what a difference it made. The Hair Algae is much thinner and its color is fading. I am also noticing my fish eating it a lot more than they used to because they can actually rip it off of the rocks now since it is so frail. I think i am going to hold off on the TLC Marine SAT for a while and see how if changing the Phosban media every week kills the Hair Algae eventually. I am only going to dose the tank with the TLC Marine SAT if i notice that it is growing in anymore places and if for some reason it starts to look healthy again.
I do not run a Refugium. I have 30 gallon fish tank for a sump, I run an Octopus NW-200 Protein Skimmer, TLF Reactor with Phosban in the bottom half and Carbon in the top half and a 25watt Aqua UV Sterilizer. I return about 500 GPH to my tank. I also run Four Koralia 4's and i don't think i have really any dead spots because i have a ton of water movement since my tank is only 48" long and those Koralia's move a lot of water. When you ask if i drip Kalk, do you mean Kalkwasser ? If so, No i don't. I do drip my Part 1 + 2 B Ionic Alkalinty and Calcium though.
I have been told to dose vodka but what is that going to do as far as algae growth ? Someone told me that it act's as a form of Carbon or something and will just make the Corals richer in color and brighter ? If dosing Vodka will help me i would be willing to try it. Does it affect the Fish at all ?
Thanks
