Clean up crew
I need to get a better clean up crew but I'm not sure what to get. I have snails right now. Small narissus type and two turbo snails. I have a 150 gallon tank. I was thinking about some crabs, but I had blue hermit crabs and they messed with my corals. I also like the brittle stars, and cucumbers?

I don't like hermits either,.. my favrite 2 memebers of a clean up crew are Certh, and Astrea snails,.. in fact that's all I use,... except for the nazzurious but just because it's cool to watch them come out of the sand at feeding time lol.

I keep a few hermits because they're fun to watch. I'm a big fan of astrea snails. They do most of the work on the rock and glass and I have two tonga fighting conchs to stir the sand. When I do the new tank, I definitely plan on adding a nassarius or two for the fun factor.

funny you mention that... even as I type one of my astrea's is getting gang murdered. My wife calls one of our hermits a serial killer. About once every few weeks there is an empty shell and a few fat hermit crabs. I wouldn't keep more than a few but they do add a lot of life to the reef.

Hermits will knife you if you don't know the gang-signs

Scarlet crabs are ok IMO. Blue legs are the bad ones as are the red legs.

I have about a dozen empty shells in the tank so they have no reason to go shell jacking. This has helped a lot. Now, they only kill a snail when they're hungry or bored
