Clean an old tank

I got my hands on a used 55gal and 125gal tank for free! How should I go about cleaning this encrusted salt/mineral/algae mess? I'm looking for a method that is reef safe. My mom wanted me to use Windex, hmm... no. Is it hot water and elbow grease for me?

Blake I would suggest getting a gallon of Muriatic acid and diluting it in the tanks filled with water and let it soak a few days first off
Then neutralize the acis with a box of baking soda each and dispose of the water in an environmentally safe manner. After that a razor blade and non deregent scrub pad along with vinegar should do the trick
