Question

Clarks and Frogspawns?

Hi Everyone!
My friend has talked me into going fish shopping with him tomorrow and I know they have a mated pair of Clark's clown there. My question is if I do buy the pair will they try to host in my frogspawn? If they do will that hurt the frogspawn? Have any of you had experiences with Clark's and frogspawn?
Patrick

I can't give you an expert answer to your question, but my experience with 4 juvenile Clark's is ....

They take turns during the day hiding out in my BTA, Hammer, Scolymia, Wellsi Brain, Caulastrea Furcata and even the large Hairy Mushrooms. It seems they'll take to anything that is soft, moves and and can lend them some protection. At night time, 1 sleeps in the BTA, 1 in a Hairy Mushroom and 2 on the Wellsi Brain.

I haven't noticed any damage to any of the corals from them being in them and playing tag with one another around them.

You're welcome. I'm hoping I'll get a mated pair out of the 4 of them soon. One is much larger now than the others and "she" has taken over the BTA, but she's still a bit of a bully to the other three. They are only about 5 or 6 months old, so it may take awhile.

Good luck with your's if you get them. I've heard of people with clownfish hosted by frogspawn before.

They might host in just about anything, but in my experience they won't hurt anything they host in - - sometimes it ticks off the corals for a while but that's it, no long-term harm done!
