Clam tissue is getting darker
Is this a lighting issue? Before and after pictures. The before is when I first put it in the tank (about 1 week ago), and the after is a picture I just snapped today.

they will darken, for different reasons, its basically regulating just how much light is is recieving, it is either getting more pigments to absorb light, or making more to act as "sun block" and block the light. just one of those things...

What type lighting was he in? Did you get him and put him in lower lighting?

He was in VHO lighting at the store and he is in VHO lighting now. The difference though is that the stores VHO lights were a full foot off of the waters surface and mine are about 3 -4 inches off the surface.

Is that a derasa? Those guys are pretty industructable, at least for me they have been. I woulndt worry too much about them unless you find some parasites (specifically, some type of pyramid snail).
