Clam Placement
I got a crocea clam ~3". I have 2-175 w MH & 2-110 w vho's in 24" deep tank. Should he be placed on the sandy bottom or just somewhere on the rock a little higher up for better light?
Also don't the guys attach or anchor themselves to the rock.

If this guy does good...I am definitly getting one more. I figured go slow on these hard to maintain things. I also added a new acro to my two SPS frags. So we'll see how all this goes.
Here they are ....hard to see. bad pic!

WOW!
I need to visit your LFS.
BTW, Clams live in rock and create holes in which they can receed and be protected form potential predators. Making a special hole for your clam is in its best interests, and they will create a larger hole using their shells to rub away the rock as they grow (so use soft Pacific low-density live rock) Make sure that when placing your clam in a hole that it is large enough for the shell to open and close without contact to the rock initially, and that it can expand its mantle without being shaded. Best to have at lease half of the shell (the mantle side) out of the hole to start with. Squammies are prolly the best at digging their holes (as are Maximas and Croceas as they become older juvies), as the scales on the outside of each shell act as files on the rock. On occasion, some of the smaller specimens will move on their "foot" until they find a hole that suits them. Make sure to start with a large piece of rock...

Actually my LFS doesn't have much. Just the common and plain softies and polyps. Got me started though did I started searching the net amazed you could order this stuff online!
I get some of the neat stuff from here and the two above today:
www.cquarium.com
He just happens to be in my area and can deliver to me with no charge!!!
Plus he had 50% yesterday!!!!
My next purchase of sps frags and clams will probably be Dr Mac's
