Question

Chloramine vs Chlorine

I just got a notice that my water supply will be changed from Chlorine to Chloramine.

I use a RO/DI filter for my tank water, is there anything I should do to assure my water quality after this change?

what i've learned and been told is,,,if you have city tap water and your RO system was made for city water you ought to be ok,,,Chloramines where introduced in the water systems to stay in the water longer,,when chlorine was just used in the "old days", us old timers used to just leave water out for a few days so the chlorine could dissipate from it. i have well water where i'm at now,and use a TFC membrane in my RO/DI (no chlorine in my water) the other type of membrane used for "city" water is supposed to remove the chlorine/chloramine in you water(forget the name on this membrane)so as far as i believe, you ought to be ok when the change is made to your water, perhaps a membrane replacement might be a good idea, hope i helped,,,,,

I agree. You should be fine with a RO/DI unit. If you're still concerned, you can always check the water after processing it with a portable TDS meter. You can get one for about $20 or less.
