Chillers

Everyone -

I finally have my canopy and installed 2 mh's, 250 watt 10k XM bulbs with 2 96 watt actinic bulbs. All I can say is wow. That shimmer looks outstanding. Can't believe I've never used mh before.

My problem (obviously from the title) is that this bumps my temp up to about 86 degrees. It's not even summer yet in Florida I need some help determining what chiller I should buy for my 65.

Are they easy to install? Any hints would be great. I would love some links of prefered chillers........

Thanks,
Hawks

There are alot of people on TRT that have this chiller that are really pleased with it.

I have this chiller on my 90 and I find it to be borderline on not big enough. That's with the house staying at 74 degF

I just bought a chiller for the 135-gallon because Texas gets pretty warm too and it's not summer yet - - tank temp was going up to 84 and the corals didn't like it. Got a JBJ Artica 1/4 HP chiller, it's in-line, easy to install, I had no problems as they allow either 1/2" or 3/4" outlets/inlets and include adapters for both. So far it's been very easy - the thermostat is included in the chiller....I highly recommend it.

Casey - Are you saying you have the JBJ Artica 1/4 HP?

Hardhead Cat - What else would I need besides the chiller? I wouldn't need the 1/4 for a 65 would I? What would you recommend?

For the people who have http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch...e=pacificcoast. What size tanks are you running this on. The price seems sooo much cheaper then alot of the 1/10's out there...

Hawks - yep, I have the 1/4 HP but you wouldn't need it - I would recommend the 1/5 HP, it hooks up the same way - the 1/4HP is model DBE-200, the 1/5HP is DBA-150. They have the user's manual in PDF format on the 'web. It's pricey but I like it a lot.

I'm sorry Hawks, I wasn't very helpful the first reply - here's the JBJ chiller website - it has a calculator on it too that you can use to determine the size chiller you would need - - good luck!

I run a 1/10 HP Aqua Euro USA chiller and it works fine on my 110 gallon tank...plus it is in the stand..not the best place for it.

Plus it is like under $300.

Is the PCI 1/10 http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch...e=pacificcoast

Sorry I'm getting confused.

I'm just worried about being in florida and the heat that it won't be enough. I see you are in the panhandle. Do you have fans on your tank Casey? My house is around 76-78.

I whole heartedly agree with Casey. I have the exact same 1/10hp Pacific Coast chiller on the 150 and it works flawlessly. We regularly sit at 115 degrees here in the summer. Keeps my tank at 79 without any problem!

I think I will get this chiller. Just out of curiosity, how loud is it when it runs? My tank is located in my bedroom. Wondering if my wife is going to complain.
