I use 2 120mm PC fans at one end of my tank near the overflow to cool the water about 4*F. I have them pointed at the water at about a 45* angle.

If you don't end up needing the chiller, yes, I would sell it and buy other requisite items needed for the tank (like a Controller such as the AC Jr, it makes controlling the tank temps far easier as well as controlling the lights and a pH probe as well)

Ok I have one small fan at one end and one at the other plus 2 80 mm drilled in the hood sucking air out. Tony the ac jr controls all that. Do u have the fans on a timer

My fans are controlled by the AC Jr off of temperature settings, they come on at 83 and go off at 80*

Interesting I have to look into that so I have another question don't mean yo be a pain. I have been running my new halides for 3 hours a day until I installed screens last night to dull out the light. Should I run them longer with screens or leave it 3 hours.

Leave it at 3 hours and bump the time up .5 hours a week until you reach your desired schedule. Then once you reach your schedule start removing the screening.

Tony I have to say things are starting to look good. Corals have opened up alot since halides went on. I cannot believe the difference in the temp the chiller has not kicked on once. The tamp is holding at 79.3 all day. I mean if it keeps it up like this i think i am going to sell the chiller.

Halides make all the difference in the world. Once your corals acclimate, things start to really pop! Glad its working out for you! Remember though, if you sell your chiller, it may not be a bad idea to invest in another piece of equipment to make your system failsafe, such as a controller. That way.....if the heat gets up in the tank, it can turn off the halides and keep the fans on to continue to chill the water

Yea I think your right I am going to look into the controllers now. I mean I cant believe the difference I was getting nervous I made a big mistake disrupting the tank from there PC lights. I am still learning I mean i know some things but I am always learning. Tnak is starting to come around the Clarity in the water with the Halides is crazy.

I dont know anyone in the hobby that isn't still learning. Your right there with all of us. When I went to halides I actually lost a few corals.....burnt them to death (literally). Ive been at this for 2 1/2 years now....before this I had planted tanks and you just learn as you go. Glad its coming together for you!
