Chiller temps

Just bought a chiller today and got set at 78 which is doing a great job maintaining it nicely.Too late for one of my acros with the temps I was getting before and another one just hanging in there and hoping he might come back.I have this heater but setting at 78 is hard because it says 75 and skips to 79 so I try to slide it closer off 79 to get that.Should I even leave the heater on being that it's getting closer to summer but the evenings have been cool so far?I don't want o go lower than 78 right now because it might stress out everything in the tank.

It's kind of a game...getting your chiller and heaters to work together without fighting each other.

Sounds like you might need a better heater. You just dropped a couple hundred on a chiller...dropping another $30 on a heater would be worth it. Get one that lets you dial it in to the degree you want.

I have my chiller set at 79° (so it comes on at 81° and runs until it's 79°)

And I have my heaters set between 77°-78°. We tend to forget, cause we're sleeping...but some summer nights can get pretty chilly. It's very imporant that even with a chiller...you have heaters set.

I have a pretty good heater. It's the visitherm stealth heater.I wish they made digital therms.I've tried the a/c but too many things blocking it and it take a long time for the room to cool down.I plan to use it but that means moving around some furniture.I was getting high temps evem with the a/c.Remember I have halides and other stuff running to create more heat.

It's hard to get the chiller and heater in tune with eachother so one isn't working against the other - - takes time - - I decided after I bought my chiller 2 months ago to not use a heater at all, but then, I'm in a warmer climate (Dallas) - - if your tank room has a/c, I'd leave the heater in during the summer months. If not, I'd pull it until the temperatures outside start to cool down in the fall. Just my $.02.
