Chiller Blues
I recieved my new chiller this week and set aside this morning to install it. I had purchased all the extra tubing I needed, so I was ready! The dealer said it was good for 800 gph so I decided to hook it straight up to my return pump. A couple flexible lines to barbed connectors and I was done. First try, leak at a barb connector. I remake the connection. Second try, WORSE leak! I make it up again so NOTHING could possibly leak. Water comes pouring out!! I can't figure it out. Then I look close at the fitting, NO WAY, there's a hole right through it from a bad mold! Ugh!! To late to go back now. I take a small torch and melt the hole shut until I can get a new fitting. Pump on..NO LEAKS! Clean up the water before spouse gets home. Turn on the chiller, GRIND!! Fan slapping against the housing! I open it up and the fan threw a blade!! UGH!!! Compressor sounds like crap. And a close look at the box reveals.....Max 500 GPH UGHHHH...Bad day folks!

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to follow up and let everyone know that a new chiller was delivered last Friday and I can't even hear this thing run!! I had spoken to the distributor and he told me to member that the chiller itself creates 5 feet of head pressure so I sized the pump accordingly. I bought a mag 7, placed it in the sump, piped to chiller, then....back to the tank for more flow!! Works awesome!! temp stays from 77 to 78 all the time.
