Chiller $ Blues

I came home today to find that the new MH light I have on my 20g nano has really upped the temperature in the tank. I'm running about 80-83 and know that it's only going to get worse as the summer marches on.

So, I checked out prices for a chiller that would take care of the 20g nano. Holy Cow, looks like i've got another $300 bucks into this hobby. No wonder people just go with a 60 gallon. The corals are the cheap part after the lights, skimmer, and chiller!

Any cheaper alternatives out there? Any DIY methods? I have an extra mini fridge laying around!

i was thinking of using a mini fridge as well.. Dont think it would be to hard to make it up...

It's been done before - but not to great of an outcome. But might work since you have a smaller amount of water to cool down. Do you have fans in the canopy?

Did you take your top off?
Is there any way you could raise the MH up a little higher?
Got fans?
