chili coral question

I recently added a chili coral (Nephthyigorgia sp) in my tank and placed in a shaded area. It seems to be doing well at night when all lights are turned off, extending its polyps and growing much bigger. However, during daytime, it shrinks a lot with all polyps closed off. I thought it would be great if I can turn the baby’s behavior the other way around.

Does anyone know how to make the chili coral bloom in the daytime so that we can enjoy its beauty during the day time (or at least for a portion of the day time instead of only being able to watch it at night)? Any advice or experience is much appreciated.

They are trying to actively feed at night as I recall. If you target feed them(after finding the right foods) then you can get them to a feeding response by introducing food, then by slowly shifting feeding time you may be able to change their schedule to match yours

Thanks for the tips. I will try that and see if it works. On another note, what type of food shall I use to feed the chili coral? I heard they are filter feeders and you need to target feed them regularly to stay healthy. In terms of placement, I hear some people say hanging the coral upside down will do better than placing upright. Any ideas? fficeffice" />>>
