Chemical Warfare In NYC!!!
This just in...
Sometime yesterday evening, chemical warfare erupted in the East Village section of lower Manhattan.
It is not exactly known how the whole incident started, but it is believed that an aggressive bubble coral sometime during the day launched an all out attack on a group of neighboring button polyps.
What is known is that tensions have been mounting over the last couple of weeks between these two combatants in that section of the tank.
The bubble coral cites it's "aquatic duty" to protect itself against the oppressive cluster of bottom polyps located in the region.
Most of the other inhabitants in the tank are well aware of these polyps and there evil regime which now will not allow the female polyps in their cluster to extend their tentacles and open fully.
A coalition among all the other corals in the tank is meeting at this moment to discuss the severity of these recent events.
In addition, phytoplankton drops are planned once a day to help the other peaceful corals in the region.

First you scared the bejeezus outta me...then I was LMAO. Poor repressed button polyps. Maybe you should airlift some special forces troops their way to wage a counter attack on the evil bubble coral! But beware the anti-aircraft sweeper tentacles .
Let us know who wins the war...my bet is for the bubble!

Hey Peter,
We've just dispatched the TRT "Reef Emergency Team" (RAT) from HellReef Oregon with copious quantities of "Bioluminescent Emergency Environmental Reagent" (BEER)! The RAT squad should arrive in 2 or 3 months, depending on how the TRT Yugo Staff Car holds up!
Hang on; help's on the way!

I know...sorry, I just couldn't resist.
Hey, we all have to keep our sense of humor over here or we will lose it.
Besides, if you think of it, the joke is really on me as all of us in this area are walking around with great big bull's-eyes on our backs.
Anyway, I came home yesterday and found this little war going on inside my tank.
I quickly grabbed my new digital Nikon and snapped a couple of shots. It gives you a good idea of just how aggressive some coral are and their ability to sting other corals nearby with extensive sweeper tentacles.
In my tank, the bubble and hammer are notorious for this behavior.
I plan on moving the cluster of button polyps as I believe they are no match for the bubble.
You got to admit, the parallel between the aggression of corals and humans is pretty eerie...it seems to always be about territory.
Oh, and Alice, I'll have you know that I am a perfectly well-adjusted individual...at least that's what my bartender tells me.

I believe the pink floyd quote has been in his signature for quite some time and has made appearances at the bottom of all his posts, so it didn't really catch anyone's attention. Unless there's another reference I'm missing...

My bubble has grown so large and the sweepers so long that I have moved my livingroom couch another 3 ft away from my reef.

Likely story
Peter, that was hysterical. Either we all stop this, or I have to get a seat belt for my desk chair.
Great pictures too!

RAT has recently undergone grueling training and has been certified as a full fledged Reef SWAT, We are mobilizing as soon as a suitable flatbed transport vehicle can be secured for the Yugo reef assualt vehicle and the rrequired BEER for a siege of this magnitude.
As a Temporary holding measure I have contacted special ops and they suggest judicious applications of "terminal Frost"
to slow down the assualts. My intel sources verify that Peter has been comfortably numb for quite sometime.
