chemi clean???

Hello all,
I picked up some chemi-clean today to treat my cyano-bacteria problem and before I use it I was wondering if anybody has used this product before and if so do they have any advice? Also any bad expeiriences? On the back of the bottle it says to use an airstone to keep water oxegenated. Wont a skimmer do that? It also says to turn of u.v. so I did that. Any advice is greatly apreciated!!

I used it on my 15gal. I had a really bad problem with it when I first started. The Chemi-Clean seamed to take care of it. I have been going for about 2 months now and all seems well. I made sure I did a water change afterwards (I think it says 48 hours after you put in the product)

It says dont use a skimmer cuase it will crazy once you add the Chemi-Clean!!! Even after the recommended water change...I would hold off on the skimmer until another water change was done and carbon was used for a good couple of days.

I have used this stuff before on my smaller tanks 55 gallons or less, and it works great. Just gotta be patient for a good 48 hours and let it do its thing. Best I was able to determine, its reef safe. It doesnt seem to work as well if used multiple times so I wouldnt recommend using it every time the wind blows, just when things get out of hand and you gotta use it or lose it. A couple of local reefers here have made the same observations as well. Before using it attemp to remove as much from the system as you can through vacuming or what ever. This will make the treatment far more effective.

If you have Cyno...then something is wrong with your system. This will only be a band aid on a cut throat at best. You may have an excess of niturients, inadequate water flow or a number of other things wrong with your tank. You need to test your water and try to narrow down the "real" cause and address it or it will more than likely return again.
